On the twenty-sixth day of the month of December in the year 1949, the then twenty-two-year-old Mary Higgins Clark (who had just quit her job as a flight stewardess with Pan American Airlines) willingly settled into holy matrimony with her neighbour Warren Clark.
She had admired him for several years and even invited him to be her date at the farewell dinner hosted by her supervisor at Remington-Rand the previous year. It was at this party that Clark proposed to her (and she accepted his proposal).
The couple had four children. Their children were named Marilyn (born in 1950), Warren Jr. (born in 1951), David (born in 1953) and Carol (born in 1956). Carol is also a mystery writer and has co-authored several books with her mother. Mary Higgins Clark's husband Warren died in 1959.
