    Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution outlines the qualifications to become President of the United States. The general power or function of the executive branch is to enforce the laws of the United States. A brief listing of the powers of the President include, serve as commander in chief ot the armed forces; grant reprieves and pardons for federal offenses; call Congress into special session; receive ambassadors from other nations; act as spokesman for the nation; faithfully execute the laws of the US; appoint officials to lesser offices in the executive branch; appoint judges and make treaties -shared powers with the Senate; veto or sign legislation.
