    Well do you know the name of the bank, and its branch in particular; whose code you are interested in. If you do you can walk into your bank or one of the branches of that bank and ask them for the sort code. You could tell them that you need to transfer funds from abroad and they will be more than willing to comply.

    Sort codes are used by banks fore facilitating inter bank transactions. It is a way a particular branch is identified. All banks and their branches have a peculiar sort code. There are some sites on the internet that can also provide you with the sort code that you are looking for.

    For example, the site www.sortingcodes.co.uk provides listings of sort codes for a fee. In the United Kingdom sort codes are typically composed of six digits in hyphenated lots of two each.
