Conwy was earlier known as Conway and is situated in the Conwy County Borough in North Wales, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is a very traditional town and lies in the County of Caernarfon shire. Conwy is a small, walled medieval town. It also has a castle which was built by Edward 1 in 1283-1289. It is one of the biggest world heritage sites and has also been recognized by UNESCO.
Originally, Conwy was the site of Aberconwy Abbey. This is where the little town derives its name - founded by Llewellyn the Great. When Edward 1 took over he moved the Abbey up the valley, however, the parish church in Conwy still holds on to parts of the Abbey church. Other tourist attractions in Conwy include Conwy suspension bridge, and the River Conwy. The Conwy Railway Bridge is a famous tubular bridge.
