What Do You Know About The Traffic Signal Lights And Pavement Markings?

Answer Question

    Traffic Signal Lights:

Signal lights are provided to control the traffic flow at certain locations. They also indicate who has the right-of-way. You should have a clear understanding of what each color and symbol means. You should also know the order the lights flash on and off. You can expect green, yellow, and red arrows to be more widely used in the future. Green arrows are used to direct traffic only as shown. Drivers facing a red light with a green arrow may proceed to turn in the direction of the arrow after yielding to any cross traffic. A yellow arrow may appear after a green arrow to indicate the light is about to change. Red arrows are used to indicate that traffic is not allowed in the direction of the arrow when the light is on.

    Pavement Markings:

Lines, symbols, and lettering on the pavement are used along with Signs and signals. They are used to both warn and regulate traffic. The words are read from near to far. White lines are used to separate traffic going in the same direction. Broken white lines are placed on multiple-lane roadways and one-way streets. Within several feet of an intersection, these lane lines become solid white lines. At this point they should not be crossed over. A double solid line is used when lane changing is prohibited. White arrows in a lane usually indicate the only direction traffic may move.

On a 4 lane road and traffic is stopped and your in the center getting ready to turn in to a place of business and you proced to turn in between the south bound traffic that is stopped is it legal for a car that is going to turn at the intersection that is a thousand feet away. Is it legal for the car to pull out around traffic that is stopped and proced to drive down on the other side of a solid white line to pass traffic to get to a intersection that is a 1000 yards away
