The computer can outperform human beings in speed, memory and accuracy but still the computer has limitations. There are following limitations of a computer.

Programmed by human:
Though computer is programmed to work efficiently, fast and accurately but it is programmed by human beings to do so. Without a program, computer is nothing. A program is a set of instructions. Computer only follows these instructions. If the instructions are not accurate the working of computer will not accurate.

Thinking:
The computer can not think itself. The concept of artificial intelligence shows that the computer can think. But still this concept is dependent on set of instructions provided by the human beings.

Self Care:
A Computer can not care itself like a human. A computer is dependent still to human beings for this purpose.

Retrieval of memory:
A computer can retrieve data very fast but this technique is linear. A human being's mind does not follow this rule. A human mind can think randomly which a computer machine can not.

Feelings:
One of the main limits in the computer is of feeling. A computer can not feel about some like a human. A computer can not meet human in respect of relations.

Human can feel, think and caring but a computer machine itself can not.

A computer can not take place of human because computer is always dependent of human.

They are unnatural, and therefore unintuitive - the natural way for a human to interact with another human is by verbal and nonverbal communication.

Computer's can't think for themselves. They aren't intelligent. If you feed a computer incorrect information, it will result in an incorrect output.

They cannot adequately deal with 'fuzzy' terms, unlike humans who describe most things in a fuzzy way: "Oh, it was *hot* today," or, "John's car cost him a *fortune*," and "It's *almost* seven o' clock - the takeaway's open."

A computer can't tell you something completely new, it can only derrive something based on something known that it was previously programmed to manipulate. They are not creative or imaginative, nor are they prone to arbitrary moments of genius.

They are unquestioning devices. They do not feel and they do not understand ethics.

Computers can only adequately process information that may be quantised. They cannot adequately deal with abstractions.

Finally, the greatest limitation of a computer is that they are engineered, built and used by humans. They expose our flaws and undersights.

The limitations of computers can be better explained in terms of artificial intelligence which considers computers as machines which lack analytical skills possessed by the humans. Computer is still a machine and is programmed by the programmers. It lacks the ability to take cognitive and analytical decisions by its own. Scientists are investing lots of money and efforts to develop intelligent devices which can perform cognitive tasks as smart as humans do. However computers have the edge over the other devices in simultaneous processing of tasks. One of the limitations also includes machine failure in the case of some hardware or software problem. The computer sometimes malfunctions and results in loss of data if some virus attacks or in the case of power failure. They are also costly to purchase and have higher maintenance costs which can also serve as major limitation.

1. It is self-directing.this means that th user provides all the instructions to the computer at the start and the later proceeds without any human intervention.
2.It saves and retrieves information.It can store voluminous data and gives out the same data when needed.It can store data through secondary storage devices such as diskettes,CD-ROM disks(Read only memory),flash cards,magnetic tapes,and many more.
3. It computes complex formulas and generates accurate data.It can process high speed calculations and produce fast and output.
4.It performs logical operations.It is an efficient tool in analyzing and solving problems which involve decisions.It can logically manipulate data with correct data and instructions from the user.
5. It communicates with the user and other machines.It can display error messages on the screen about the user's instructions or data thereby avoiding incorrect output or results.

LIMITATIONS:
1.It can correct erroneous input data.If mistakenly given incorrect data or instructions,it does not have the ability to correct it.Thus,the computer term GIGO or Garbage In , Garbage Out. A computer fed wrong data will produce wrong information.
2.It can only do what it is instructed or programmed to do.The computer executes and follows only the set of instructions that has been entered by the user.
3. It cannot generate information on its own.A computer cannot generate information without any correct data or sets of instructions entered by the user.
4.It is subject to occasional breakdown.Like any machine,a computer malfunctions due to a worn out storage devices and other components or power fluctuations.

5. Compact Storage. A computer has the ability to store large amounts of data in compact and easily retrievable form. It can store data at a very high speed.

6. Discipline. Discipline means that a computer can self-check and self-operate. A computer self-checks when it verifies the accuracy of its won work by means of a parity check. In a parity check, the computer counts the number of characters it has stored to make sure that there will be no loss of data during processing. In self-operation, a computer is capable of executing instructions on its own, without human intervention, once the program and the data re fed into the computer's memory.

LIMITATIONS:
1. A computer cannot generate information on its own. While it is true that a computer has the capacity to put together information from many sources, it can only do this if it has been programmed by man to do so.

Computers are machine which can operate according to instructions given by humans through computer programs. If instructions or softwares are not installed in computer, computer cannot work and If those instructions or softwares are not designed to meet our requirements, the  we cannot benefit from computers. Computers doesn't posses their own brain, they can only work as designed and might sometimes not meet users' requirements.
