The Ku Klux Klan was a movement of White, Anglo, Saxon, Protestant, and Supremacy-driven people. They are widely considered across many cultures as racists. Founded in 1886 after the American Civil War in the south, the KKK was a secret society, set up by whites to terrorise the recently freed black people.
It died out in 1869 but was revived in 1915 by a Texas dentist called Hiram Waesley Evens. They were against blacks, Orientals, immigrants, socialists and communists, Catholics, Jews and other non-Christians, and new scientific ideas. Essentially, they didn't like anyone who wasn't a WASP. By 1924, the Klan claimed a membership of 5 million. Its influence spread to the north where city dwellers feared the influx of blacks and immigrants who they blamed for job and housing shortages. 1918 and 1920 saw riots in cities like Chicago (33 killed in 1 week). However, in general, the Klan remained a rural movement and was laughed at by more sophisticated city people. In the south the Klan infiltrated politics with judges, police, and other officials as members.

Ok i've had it with the white supremacists thing...this is why they started...the kkk wasn't started to necessarily terroize them it was to scare them away from their crimes...after the slaves were freed the blacks terrorized white women and raped them, well groups of white people dressed up in their white uniforms acting as if they were dead confederate soldiers back from the grave to scare the blacks away from terrorizing white towns....and then people with big mouths spread the word that its a white supremacist group..they don't hate blacks..they just believe that white history month should be there just as they have black history month..for white pride...
