What Is The Role Of Geometry In Real Life?

Answer Question

One of the applications of geometry is area. This is used for square footage, square miles, acres, etc.
You may be interested in square footage if you're looking to rent an apt or buy a home. For example a nice area for an apt may be  800 square ft for a 1br. If you look at the floor plans you'll see measurements for each room. LR measures 12ft by 12 ft, BR measures 13ft by 10ft, kitchen/dining room measure 15ft by 12ft, bath measures 10ft by 10ft. If you compute the areas of the living areas listed you will get 554 sft. The hallways and closets will account for additional square footage, lets say 144 sft which will total 700an a sft for you dwelling. Let's say you're planning to move, and you have two areas to choose from, and one rents for an average of $1.50 per square ft, and the other rents for an average of $4.00 per square foot. Which will be the better deal?

Geometry is also used for calculating population densities for municipalities. Let's say a city measures 500 sq miles with a population of 500,000. The population density is the population/square mile. This will give you 1,000 residents per square mile after doint the math. (another applicaiotn).

The applications go on and on. You also can increase your critical thinking skills as a result of studying geometry.

Do some research and find not only real life applications to geometry, but also to Algebra as well.

You will be amazed because Math is very powerful.
