Well, we don't know, do we? I mean, that's the nature of spy organisations, they don't exactly publicise their projects or issue annual reports, do they?

Moreover, the KGB transformed into the modern state security service, the FSB (Federal Security Service of Russia). The FSB was headed at one time by no less than Vladimir Putin. Bit like George Bush Snr was once head of the CIA, so the Americans can't claim their spies and politicians are any less in bed together.

Many would say that the KGB never went away, it just became slightly more openly acknowledged after the fall of the USSR.

So who knows what the FSB is getting up to, now? I could insinuate all kinds of things, but don't fancy radioactive elements in my cup of tea, today, thanks. The Russian people themselves are some of the most eager conspiracy theorists in the world, so have no shortage of ideas about what the FSB is up to, at any one time.
