Hypnos is a Greek mythological anthropomorphic personification of sleep. He was supposed to have ruled sleep and his twin brother Thanatos ruled "death". He is identified with the Roman God Somnus. According to the legend he's supposed to have lived in a cave where the Sun never shone and at it's entrance were hypnogogic plants and poppy.
