How Can We Configure Cluster In Windows 2000 Servers?

Answer Question

Computer clustering refers to a group of coupled computers that work together in such a way that they can be considered as a single computer. The components of a cluster can be usually connected to each other with the help of quick local area networks.

You can use the Window 2000 Advanced Server with SQL Server 2000 Enterprise to create an Active/Active cluster. These two software components are the minimum requirement to install, configure and cluster SQL Server 2000 in a Windows 2000 environment. While installing Windows 2000, you can check the "Add the Cluster Service Component" before choosing your components to install.  After Window boots up for the first time, you will be able to start the wizard by going to Control Panel and clicking onto the "Add/ Remove program" option. When you do this, the "Configure Clustering" option is highlighted. While attempting cluster, it is advisable to install Service Pack 2 for Windows 2000 because there exist quite a few bug fixes between two service packs connected to clustering. The step to configure clusters in Windows 2000 server is exhaustive and can be found at: www.sqlservercentral.com
