          In case you want to have your tattoo edited or fixed into something better, you can always do that at your local tattoo parlour or a place where professional tattooing is done. You can also go to the same place where you first got your tattoo. Many times it happens that you do not get your desired tattoo as the person who is tattooing always messes it up.

          In this case, you need to be very focused on what exactly you want. It would be better for you and the tattooist if you give him a design instead of explaining it to him. The tattooist will look at the design and make the same impression on your skin. In case you want to fix your existing tattoo to something better, you can take the advice from the tattooist or give your own design.

          In case you want to remove your tattoo completely in order to get a new one, you need to get the tattoo removed surgically. You can consult any hospital or the tattoo parlour itself fore more details. The surgery can be quite painful.          

Go see the artist who did the original work.  If it was a homemade tattoo, you cannot locate the original artist, or your experience with the original artist was horrible... Research (ask around and check out) other professional tattoo artists in your area.  

There are a lot of factors involved in why you may not be happy with your tattoo and many are harmless or just miscommunication.  You should give the original artist a chance first to correct it and most artists are going to be more than happy to do so.
