For sperm to thrive and develop normally..they have to be at a lower temperature than our bodies 98.6.degrees...them hanging out the way they do allows their temp.to be a few degrees lower than the rest of the body.

It all has to do with temperature..if they are to warm your sperm will die...if too cold they suck themsleves back towards the body..to get warmer

I think it's so the sperm can stay cool so they don't die, if they were inside the body maybe it would get to hot for the little guys? I don't know, i admit it, I'm guessing.

I believe it is to keep them cool as they contain precious cargo like sperm. Our internal body temperature would could those little guys right up.
