Can You Help Me About Wiring Ceiling Fans?

House is prewired for fan with 2 switches. #1 has a red and white wire and controls existing light. #2 has black and white wires and controls existing fan. New fan has blue, black, white and green. Instructions say combine blue and black. Should I use only the wires from switch 2 and disregard wires from #1 or should I combine them?

Depends on if you want to control them separately or have everything come on with one switch, being an electrician I advise you to utilize both switches.I would land the blue on the black and the black on the red, back to your switches,is there a white wire landed on the switch itself or are they wire nutted together in the back of the box?If there is white wires landed on the switch then you have to do it a completely different way because you have two dead end switch legs (cold switch).  Which is tricky to understand.

The new control switch says do not connect white to switch, connect to common. New switch has black wire in and black wire out. It is actually a remote control switch that controls both light and fan speed.
