How Electric Works\ Train?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Electrical power is supplied either in overhead lines or via a third rail (usually just on subways due to safety concerns). The power is picked up by spring-loaded articulated collector shoes on the locomotive, and used to drive large electric motors which nowadays are fixed directly to each driving axle.
