First you tell your parents, and then seek counseling at a psychologist. Medications don't work well for teens, so if you can try to get well with as little meds as possible. I am bipolar and I know how bad depression can effect someones life. The first step is hard especially when people think you are just having a bad day and that you don't really have a problem. Depression is serious no matter what the cause is so take it seriously and make them see you need help now and not later. I wish you well.

You may want to make a appointment to talk to the counselor in your school she/he should be able to direct you to the correct source for help if you feel you can not talk to a parent or family member,good luck and hope you are able to get the help you seek....

You must talk to someone about your feelings. It can be a family member, a friend, a minister or a teacher. If you want, you can even see your doctor and then you know it will be confidential. What you mustn't do, is ignore it. Too many young people are self harming or committing suicide because they feel lost and alone. Even a phone call to the Samaritans or a voluntary group for mental health issues, can end up saving a life. Like all illnesses, if left untreated or unmanaged it can only get worse. It may be a simple chemical problem which can be easily treated. Don't sit and listen to negative depressive music. That's OK, if you are not depressed but to do so while depressed is the same as giving a drug addict a job in a pharmacy or an alcoholic a job in a brewery. The same goes for films and reading material. You know it makes sense. :)
