After the death of Ian Curtis the lingering band members formed a new band called "New Order". The members of Joy Division had made a pact that if any one of the members from the band would die or leave the band, they would not continue with the name Joy Division. Remaining true the pact they formed 'New Order' which is presently active as a band.
'Bono' the front man of the rock group U2 had said that Ian Curtis was the best front man in rock, and he swore he would take Curtis's place.
A band by the name of Xiu Xiu had written a song called "Ian Curtis Wish List" and released it on their album "A Promise"; they had also covered the Joy Division song called 'Ceremony' and released it on their EP called "Chapel of Chimes".
