What Is Foreign Policy?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Foreign policy of any country is a set of political objectives that seeks to outline how that country will interact and corporate with other countries of the world and, to a smaller extent, non-state actors. Usually Foreign policies are planned to help protect a country's national interests, national defence, ideological aspirations, and economic riches. This can happen as a result of diplomatic cooperation with other nations, or through hostility, war, and exploitation. It may be assumed that foreign policy is as antique as the human society itself. The twentieth century saw a quick increase in the significance of foreign policy, with almost every nation in the world.

Technically, designing the foreign policy is usually the job of the head of government and the foreign minister or equivalent to it. In some countries the administration also has considerable oversight. As exclusion, in France, Finland and US, it is the head of state that is responsible for foreign policy, while the head of government mostly deals with internal policy of the country. Actuality, foreign policy is a product of demands from various groups and classes, political and economic. In a lot of countries, foreign policy ranks far above the ground on the listing of factors that influence public opinion.
