What Bird Is Called The Snowbird?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The snowbird is a medium sized, dark eyed sparrow, which is also popularly known as the Junco. It is one of the most commonly seen birds during the winter, because of which it has been bestowed with the name 'Snowbird'. The juncos are characterised by a plain patterning, a dark hood and white feathers of the outer tail.

The juncos or snowbirds are around 14 to 16 centimetres long. They have a grey to black hood, a white belly, non-streaked grey or brown bodies usually without wingbars, dark eyes and pink legs.

Juncos are found in the middle latitudes. While they are seen in some parts of the United States of America all year long, they visit the northernmost areas only in the winter and retreat during spring.
