Reflection and refraction are the two very important properties of light. When light hits the surface especially from smooth surfaces, it is reflected back on the same path or at a certain angle. Angle of incident (the angle of light from source to the object from which the light would be reflected) is an important parameter which also determines the angle of reflection of light from a surface. Reflection of light which is happening in many directions is called diffused reflections. The diffused reflection is mainly caused by the reflection of the light from an irregular surface.
Mostly this irregular reflection or the diffused reflection is very useful. The example is the text you are reading at the movement. If you compare a page with the mirror, the page is a rough surface and light reflected from a page or screen is diffused, so you see all potion of the text under the light source be equally illuminated and can easily read the page. If page was like a mirror, you can not read it. The light seems to be reflected equally from all parts of the page. So the irregular or diffused reflection is a very important property of the light.
