Charles Rennie Mackintosh was the name of a Scottish architect, as well as a designer and water colour artist who was a part of the Arts and Crafts Movement. He was also the principal advocate and supporter of Art Nouveau in Scotland.
His birth place was the city of Glasgow and since an early age experienced a bad foot and difficulties with the eyes. He explored and drew a lot of Scotland's countryside in hi childhood days. He studied in what was formerly known as Allan Glen's School. After turning sixteen he became an apprentice to an architect called John Hutchison, with whom he worked for duration of five years.
Along with his future wife, Margaret McDonald, her sister Frances McDonald and another budding architect Herbert MacNair he conducted exhibitions in Glasgow, London and Vienna which gave him much exposure in the art world.
