EACH HEALTHCARE JOB REQUIRE A TB TEST ALSO KNOWN AS PPD OR MANTOUX TEST. THIS IS DONE ON AS A TWO STEP BASIS IS VERY SIMPLE A NEEDLE IS INSERTED JUST UNDER THE SKIN ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT FOREARM INSERTING THE MEDICATION FORMING A BUBBLE. ONE IS DONE AND RESULTS READ BY A NURSE 48HRS LATER, THEN 7 DAYS AFTER THE 1ST PPD IS GIVEN, IT IS REPEATED AND READ AGAIN 48HRS. LATER. THEN IT IS ONCE YEARLY. CALLED A ONE STEP. IF THE PPD IS READ POSITIVE IT WOULD BE NECESSARY TO HAVE A CHEST XRAY DONE. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE ACTIVE TB. SO DON'T PANIC, LOTS OF PEOPLE TEST POSITIVE, SOME HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO TB AND NEVER HAVE AN ACTIVE CASE OF TB
