Answer Question

The word " Computer" has been around long before the PC.  It use to refer to a person who did calculations or computations.  Like a mathematician. Wind-up watches and the Astronomical clocks are also referd to as computers but have no digital devices in them.   It wasn't until the end of the 19th century that the word " Computer" took on the meaning it has today today.
    Hope that explains your question.
