      Balance is the first step in skateboarding. If you don't practice balancing, how are you going to ride it?

        Buy yourself a good set (but cheap (you won't need them for too long)) of pads and helmet (big supermarkets are good for these). Learn how to fall over (join a Ju-Jitsu or Judo club, if you don't know someone to help with this). After you have learnt how to minimize injuries, get out there and practice, practice, practice (not in traffic, building sites or other stupid places). Oh! And see if there is a club near you (local library / council / internet should provide)…

        Really all you need to do is buy a helmet and if you want them knee pads & elbow pads ( i didnt use them i have been skating three years and my freinds say im pretty good) and just learn how how to push
