How Many Rivers Are There In Saudi Arabia?

There are no perennial sources of water such as rivers and lakes in Saudi Arabia as such, as it is a hot and dry desert country. In the absence of rivers, lakes and other water bodies, Saudi Arabia gets its supply of water (though it is very scarce) from the scanty rainfall it receives, as well as groundwater, sea water which has been desalinated and the surface water supply, which is scarce and irregular. Artesian wells and springs are abundant and supply water to the eastern parts of Saudi Arabia and in the Jabal Tuwayq region. The underground water that flows from the eastern watershed of the Jabal Tuwayq region replenishes the water in the large, deep pools of the Al Ahsa region. Wells are seen in abundance in places such as Hijaz and Asir. Springs are common bodies of water in the mountainous regions of the country. Najd is a desert and like other deserts, the watering holes are comparatively fewer in number and located at considerable distances from each other.
