    Till the end of 18th century Cuba was considered as an underdeveloped country as their economy was basically depending on the tobacco farms and cattle's. In the 19th century when start cultivating sugar on a big scale, it plays an important role in their development. Another thing which was very common was African "salve" trade. It brings in 16th century and this slave trade increased tremendously in that area. According to certain resources almost 4, 00,000 Africans were brought to Cuba in the year 1835-1864.

    Salves that were brought from Africa were estimated to be over 40% of African population. The development in the sugar industry and slave trade are two remarkable features in the Cuban history. According to some resource in Cuba there are almost more then hundred ethnic groups. It is also considered as one of the biggest island of the Caribbean.Christopher Columbus during his travel time when first arrived on the Cuba he considered it as a part of Spain. Till 1764 Cuba was governed under the Spanish rules. The Cuba became an independent state in 1902 after the Spanish –American war.
