What Benefits Do I Get For Joining The Military?

Answer Question

You get a salary.  You get your food furnished.  You get clothing furnished.  You get your medical & dental care taken care of.  You can make purchases at the PX (military store) which is discounted goods.  You are trained in a profession (assuming you qualify) which can be anything from a fireman to a doctor or any other number of professions.  After leaving the service you get financial assistance with college (used to, I am unsure about now).  Veterans Assistance (V.A.) loans for your home is (was, unsure about currently) at a lower rate than conventional loans.  You can get medical care at a V.A Hospital until you die.  You have an assured place for your burial (National Cemeteries for veterans).  You also learn to follow orders.  You learn to defend yourself.  You learn to cry when your buddy is killed or wounded and you learn to pray for your own safety.  You earn the respect of all who have served before you and all who have the good luck to live in the United States and are blessed enough to have brave Americans defend us.  Certainly, you will have my respect and gratitude.
