Flexible packaging is a very wide field which very rapidly expanding these days. It is basically the term used to define the type of packaging being used for the different food and non food grade products. The purpose of packaging is to protect the product from the environmental attacks of bacteria, oxygen and moisture. In flexible packaging a large variety of flexible products i.e. plastics (including polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide, aluminium foil and paper etc). As already explained that the purpose of flexible packaging is to protect the product from oxygen, and moisture etc so each of these plastic film mentioned have a protection like for example polypropylene is a very strong moisture barrier and polyamide is a good resistant to oxygen.
Flexible packaging is being done through special machines including printing, laminating, and extrusion and slitting machines. Flexible Packaging material is available in the form of rolls it may be available in the form of bags as well. Poly vinyl chloride (PVC) is also an important substrate being used in flexible packaging it is used for making the shrink sleeves which will be then applied on the plastic bottles, with the effect of some heat the sleeve will shrink and will hold tightly against the plastic bottle.
