Hello Jelesmarie.
I'm not sure what 'Religious Education' means to you, so it makes the question difficult to answer. I'm going to assume by this that you mean to 'better serve your church'.
I guess the 1st point would be to remind you that church is the body of Christ (Eph 1:22-23), and that this body is not a building or a place, but is made up of people. People who have turned away from their sins, and towards a holy God.
If you would serve your church better, then serve Christ more fully. Pray on all occasions. Seek after His kingdom not just on Sunday, but each and every moment. Read the scriptures, asking the Spirit for guidance in understanding. Love the body of believers. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.
Make sure you are part of a mature body of believers, so that they might strengthen you even as you strengthen them. As Paul says in Romans, "that you and I might be mutually encouraged by each others faith" (Ro 1:12). Some guidelines I've found truthful are;
1) do they rely on scripture, and base all their teachings on scripture
2) do they live their faith by loving and forgiving one another, and their neighbours
3) are they committed as a body to some form of missionary work
Hope this helps. You have my prayers on this, and we know that God hears. May He draw close to you as you seek His face.
