    The word "foray" can act as a noun as well as a verb. As a noun, the word means an invasion, a sudden attack or raid carried by a rival army or opponents. Words like raid, maraud, incursion, inroads etc are the possible synonyms of the word "foray."

    The word "foray" can also mean an endeavor or a first attempt especially outside the usual dominion of a person. Here is an example of the usage of the noun form of the word in the sentence:
