    Velocity is defined as distance travelled in a certain time period. You can use the simple formula for velocity for this question. I.e

    V = S/T
    Where V is the average velocity, S is the distance covered and T is the time period. Putting values
    V = 317/2
    V = 158.5 km/hour is the answer for the first part.

    Instantaneous velocity refers to the velocity of the object at any given instant in time. Since the airplane was moving at a constant speed, its Instantaneous velocity will be equal to its average velocity.
