This Question Is Answered:
What Three Books Would You Save For All Time As The Most Influential Or Valuable?
In H. G. Wells novel, "The Time Machine" he was in a future that had great technical advances, but the people were despondent, selfish and unmotivated. Books were not a part of their culture. When the hero went back to his regular time he took three books with him back to the future. I think it is fun to speculate what those books would have been or even what books you would take today.

I like your answer a lot. A technologically advanced society needs to be spiritually nourished, sociologically oriented and given poignancy and vision and you have covered all.

My first was a birthday present. It is simply called lost lives. It contains the names and accounts of all those who died here in the north of Ireland during the troubles. I lost a lot of friends and acquaintances so it has a special meaning to me. It tells the stories behind each death regardless of who they are. My second book choice would be the lion the witch and the wardrobe. I read this as a child and i loved it . It also encouraged me to read more as a child. Finally, i would choose the handbook of mental retardation syndromes. This book got me interested in genetics and ultimately lead me to become a nurse who specialises in mental handicap. It was a unique edition by dr charles carter. It showed many photographs of deformities related to genetic causes and explained each one individually. It switched on a light in my head and changed my life. >)

Your list is also very personal and reflective of who you are. I am not familiar with your "Lost Lives" but it sounds like a very special book to someone of Irish heritage and my Grandmother was Irish. C.S. Lewis is a great choice for this list with any of his books. I am interested, I think, in reading your Handbook of Retardation Syndromes. I would hope that this future society that is technologically advanced would have conquered retardation, mental illness, and most diseases.

Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, and Twilight. I can't help but to say that some of the most influential and valuable authors would be Shakespeare, Tamora Pierce, J.K Rowling, and Stephanie Meyer. Books are my favorite!!! (other than dancing.)

I appreciate your list as it reflects you and your ideology. My very conservative husband would agree with you 100%. But I am talking about great books for all times given to a technologically advanced society. I should hope that they would be pass political conundrums. I think you need to lighten up some and read some Vonegut or maybe even some Dr. Seuss. What do you read for laughs or inspiration?

That depends on what subject manner you are referring to and if its reacent or clasic. If you are talking recent spy thrillers I would go with the bourne series by robert ludlem. If we wear talking fantisy i would go with the lord of the rings trillogy
