J.K. Rowling was born in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire in England (10 miles on the northeast of Bristol) on July 31st, 1965. Her parents are Peter James Rowling and Anne Rowling. When Rowling was 26, she moved to Portugal as an English teacher. There she started writing Harry Potter, got married, had a daughter (Jessica) and got a divorce. After her divorce, she moved with her daughter to Edinburgh, Scotland. Here she took up a french teaching job along with writing her novels.
