I was diagnosed with PID in the 7th grade. I had never even had sexual intercourse. You can, however, contract it through sexual intercourse but in the female it's PID, in the male it's a bacteria of some sort. My doctor told me that you can also get it genetically, which is how I came to have it. It just lies dormant in your organs until you have an episode. Every since my first one, I usually have one once a year.
