Replaced Battery On 97Jeep 2days Ago, Now Interior Lights Won't Go Off. Have To Disconnect One Of The Cables To The Battery If Not Cranking For A Long Time. Also, If Passenger Door Open Doesn't Say "door Ajar".

Just replaced the battery on the Jeep two days ago and all of a sudden now the interior lights won't go off. Have to disconnect one of the cables to the battery if not cranking for a long period bcz of this. Yesterday it was a bit windy and rainy, but this shouldn't be an issue now. Also, if the passenger door is open, it doesn't say "door ajar" anymore. What do you think?? Please help--I don't know a lot about electrical and can't afford to be w/o vehicle. Thanks, Tucca

I had a friend once with this problem on a Cherokee, he had to get a mechanic to reset a computer on it and that cured the problem. It wasn't very expensive either. I think it was a 1997 Jeep Cherokee.
