Windows XP Media Center Edition also known as MCE is a version of Windows XP. It was specifically designed for the purpose of acting as a home entertainment hub. The latest version of MCE was released in 2004 and is known as Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. It is different from other products of Windows XP because it has several features like a preinstalled media center which allows for recording and playback other than viewing.

DVD playback, video playback, music playback etc are also features in Windows XP Media Center Edition. The latest version has one new feature like the Royale theme which is missing it the earlier editions. A special wireless keyboard was released in 2005 particularly for MCE 2005.
