Who Is Jesse Jackson?

Jesse Jackson is probably the only Afro-American in the history of the United States who ran for the United States presidency in the year 1988. He was a baptist minister and played a great role in the civil rights movement of the 1960's along with other prominent Afro-American leaders such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. An outspoken person by nature, Reverend Jesse Jackson was a staunch adovocate of human right causes and contributed a great deal towards the promotion of the freedom of the oppressed people all over the world.

His contributions were also noteworthy in ending the apartheid regime in South Africa. Moreover he was also linked with the release of prisoners in Cuba that directly espoused his philosophy that revolved around the protection of human rights. However in the flow of his outspoken and bold demeanor, Jesse Jackson was not always in sync with the United States policy and was not always the favorite person for the main authorities of the United States. Nevertheless his priceless endeavors in the dimension of human rights could never be denied.
