    Was It Bad Practice By The Vet?

    My dog had to have surgery on Wednesday the 5th - her stomuch turned. They also had to remove her spleen. I had to take her to a amergency animal center. She than had DIC - the doctor told me that it would cost thousands of dollars the fix her but could make it. My dog "Roxy" a pitt Bull Terrier and my best friend died on Sunday the 9th. She never gave me a persentage rate of her making it. We know have thousands of dollars to pay. Had I known she would have probably been put to sleep.

    That is very sad! If they told you she would live. They just to die like that's sounds weird. There must have been something else going on. Maybe something they couldn't see. But I had a similar situation happen to me. My dog when in to the hospital due to him not eating or drinking. It was 50 dollars a day. They had him on a IV , I went up there every day for 2 days. Then on the Sunday I went up there he looked better. They rushed my visit i was there for like 15 mins. Then I get a call at 4:00am that he died. My husband pick him up, he was in a blue bag with his eyes open. I was devastated!! :( But no explanation on how he died. Took 3 days for the DR. To finally talk to me. Then supposedly he had intestinal problems. All new to me. But the way they go about stuff with animals is different with kids. When pet owners feel those animals are are Baby's!!! But I hope you get to the bottom of yours! I don't have enough money to fit my vet. If you feel you were mislead, or find something they didn't tell you. Do something if you can. You can have an odtopsey report done. Sorry can't spell that! :) Good luck!!

    A dog with DIC is not very likely to make it although there may have been a small chance. There was probably an underlying factor above and beyond the bloat and splenectomy that caused the bleeding disorder which should have explained to you. Sorry for your loss.
