How Does Sound Get From A Guitar To The Amplifier?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

When a guitarist plucks the string of an electric guitar, it vibrates at a frequency which is determined by two factors, namely the length of the string and the tension on the string. The frequency at which the string vibrates is directly related to the pitch of the sound which is created.

The pickups of a guitar are located at the bridge of the guitar. When the string vibrates over the pickups, the magnets on those pickups detect the movements of the strings. The movements of the strings are then translated into electronic information. This electronic information is then sent to an amplifier by means of a cable.

When the information which is sent by the most important variables (the pickups) travels through the speaker in the amplifier, the sound of the guitar is filtered.
