What Is Human Chromosome 3?

Human chromosome 3, in general and in normal cases, comes in pairs. It spans around 6.5% of the total DNA available in a particular cell. Chromosome 3 consists of 1000 to 1500 genes. Some of them are listed below:

ALAS1, BTD, CCR5, CPOX, HGD, MCCC1, MITF, MLH1, PCCB, PDCD10, PIK3CA, RAB7, SCN5A, SLC25A20, TMIE, USH3A, VHL, ZNF9.

Dysfunctional condition in chromosome 3 is responsible for the development of various diseases in human system. Some of them are listed below:-

alkaptonuria, Brugada syndrome, carnitine-acylcarnitine translocase deficiency, cerebral cavernous malformation, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, hereditary coproporphyria, hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer, myotonic dystrophy, nonsyndromic deafness, porphyria, Romano-Ward syndrome, Usher syndrome, Autism, Night blindness, Deafness, Diabetes, Ovarian cancer, Protein S deficiency, Sucrose intolerance, Moebius syndrome and many more.
