Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The puma, also known as the Mountain Lion or the Cougar, is a big cat who likes solitude. It is found in the Americas. Alternatively, they are given many names pertaining to their regions like Florida Panther,Mexican Lion etc.

The puma population in the world has fast depleted, making it a near threatened species. In the decade of 1996 - 2006, over thirty thousand pumas faced their death due to hunting.

The pumas have the most extensive range than that of any other wild feline. Found mostly in North and South America, there was a sudden upsurge in the number of these cats, clocking 30,000 in the Western United states alone.

In the region of California, there have been recorded an estimated number of 4,000 to 6,000 pumas. In Colorado, there are estimated 4,500 – 5,000 individuals.
