Why Does My Dog Tuck His Tail Down Between His Hind Legs?

When a dog puts his tail down and between his legs, its a sure sign of fear. Do the ears lower at the same time? Do you have children? Its a possibility that your dog is being abused. Have you had your dog from its labor, or did you get it grown. Your dog is very timid and this could happen from simply telling at the dog.

Basically this means that the dog is scared of something that is happening at a particular moment when he puts his tail between his legs. For instance my own dog doesn't like it when i have to wash her because she is scared of water, so she always puts her tail between her legs while i'm washing her! It actually can also mean your dog is embarrassed about something they just did, but this is very unlikely and it usually just is a sign that he/she is scared.

A dog tuck it's tail between it's hind legs when it's scared. The farther between it's legs it's tail is, the more terrified it is.

It usually because the dog is afraid or did something wrong .

Fear. Maybe someone's abusing him. Or he did something wrong and is afraid of the consequences humans might impose.

Actually found out it may be either from some trauma or from old age, but the top of his tailbone where it attaches to his lower spine is painful when the tail is lifted. The vet is taking xrays but says it is pretty common with this breed, which is a beagle mix.
