Where Did AIDS Originate?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is believed that the AIDS virus started in central Africa. Many specialists believe that a mild form of the AIDS virus called HLTV has existed since the 1950s.

From central Africa, the AIDS virus spread over to the island of Haiti in the Caribbean. So, besides Africa, the AIDS virus showed up in Haiti and then later in France. This is where is began.

It eventually came to the United States because many homosexuals visited Haiti frequently. They brought the disease into the United States and the first reported case in the United States was encountered in California in 1981.

AIDS is not an easy disease to catch. It cannot be spread through common human touching. It cannot be spread through spas, swimming pools or public bathrooms. The only was one can get the AIDS virus is through homosexual or heterosexual intercourse or through sharing a contaminated needle. These are the only way the virus can be spread.
