El Salvador is a country which is located in Central America. It has a population of about 7 million. It shares its borders with Guatemala on its west and the Honduras to the north and east. It is also considered as the most industrialised country in Central America.

The official name for El Salvador is 'Republic of El Salvador'. The capital city of El Salvador is 'San Salvador'. The official language spoken in El Salvador is Spanish. It has a republican government; the current president of El Salvador is 'Antonio Saca'. The country gained its Independence from Spain on the 15th of September in the year 1821. The country is named 'The Saviour' in Spanish, in honor of 'Jesus Christ'.
