    CAUSE

This is an InstallShield error code. It indicates that the installation process has failed. The exact reason for this error is not known at this time.

    WORKAROUND

    Step 1 :
We recommend that you remove any traces of the failed Java installation.
To uninstall the Java, follow the instructions at: Uninstall Java

    Step 2 :
Download and install the offline installation package from the manual download page:
Please visit Offline installation. Yea I recommend Offline Installation

    Hope it helps

For what it's worth, I attempted to update a system recently, and noted that the installer faile din the same way.

I downloaded an older version of the Java 6 JRE (update 6) and it worked just fine. Looks like it's picking up something on your system it's not happy with. Even once I have 6 update 6 installed, I could not get update 13 to install.

    Cheers!

I managed to install after encountering 25099 error. Don't know why below steps work but i managed to install with below steps. Hope it works for you.

      1. Shutdown firewall (eg. Comodo)
      2. Get offline version (eg. Jre-6u12-windows-i586-p.exe)
      3. Close all browsers
      4. Rename java folder with remnants of previous java versions after error
code 25099 on 1st install (rename to eg c:program filesjava_old)
      5. Run jre-6u12-windows-i586-p.exe (select change destination folder)
      6. Change folder to c:\program filesjava612 (for example)
      7. Installation completes (at least in my case)
      8. Re-start comodo firewall
9 goto www.javatester.org to test installation

my win xp has a problem with jsqnotify.exe will run multiple copies & hogs 100% cpu. I have to open task manager & end all jsqnotify.exe. Immediately restart firewall as that is setup to block jsgnotify from running. Blocking it will not affect java at all.

There's an easier way that I found. Download and install (free) JavaRa 1.15. You can get it here: Http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/JavaRa-Download-97297.html. It's a handy tool that will remove all traces of Java from your system - takes about 30 seconds. Then I simply went back and re downloaded Java and put a check in the box beside Change Destination folder. Simply choose a location other then the one that will show (ie: C: Program Files). Installed like a charm!

This problem has been frustrating me for weeks and I've tried every suggested fix I could find on the net - but there was nothing to delete from Control Panel nor any obvious apps/services running under Task Manager.  Then, finally, I saw another suggestion and I went into Program Files on my C drive, found a Java folder with some files in it, deleted the folder and its contents, and was then able to install Java with no problems.

I went to my computer selected "C" drive Then selected program files and removed Java files. Then downloaded Limewire and then went back to desktop and a window came up saying I can download java updates andit worked. It might work just trying downloading java again and not using limewire,I had to delete limewire Before I reloaded it

Change the location when you install Java, it gives you the option. Put mine in bin.

Its much simpler than all this just start panel go into my computer local disc c double click on hidden files find java delete then restart computer go back to java and download again if for limewire you may have to reinstall but just do so anyway as it just updates your existing limewire and you loose nothing

I went to Windows Task Manager utility and DIDN'T SEE  jqs.exe process running???Then I tried the step method of start-run-cmd net stop "Java Quick Starter" and it said that it didn't exist???? So I just went the route of "start" menu then "search"-" all files and folders" and typed the word "java" in the search box and one by one deleted file each individually....some files could not be deleted but I got most of them and then the java 6 download worked....

OK... I got the  JAVA  INSTALLATION error message (error #25099) and was able to fix it with a little internet search. Here is how I fixed and installed the newest and latest version of JAVA:
GO TO CONTROL PANEL AND DELETE ALL VERSIONS OF JAVA INSTALLATION THEN GO TO C: DRIVE AND UNDER PROGRAMS DELETE THE FOLDER, ETC., NAMED JAVA THEN GO TO JAVA.COM AND DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST VERSION....

It worked for this old Dell 4600... GOOD LUCK
