Can A Shower Faucet, Head, And Handle Be Changed Without Tearing Out The Tiles, Etc. ?

I have an old Delta shower head, faucet, and handle unit. I would like to change it out, but the plumber tried to talk me out of it, because he said it would be too expensive. Is this true?

Well I am afraid that it would be expensive if the plumbing for your shower is going through the walls and are not external. However there are showers and faucets available that you can purchase which would not require you to tear through the walls.

All of these should be external, they are usually the last thing to go into your shower. Unless you can see that they are indeed tiled in. But if it is, you can remedy that by taking the tiles and the parts off, and refix the tile, then put the parts on last if you have enough pipe sticking out. Hope this helps, good luck.
