When Can A Landlord Demand Money Orders From A Tenant?

My landlord was working at my building today so I left him a check for August's rent. The check is dated August 1st, and today is July 30th. He tried to cash the check today but not all of the funds were in there since I get paid tomorrow. He refuses to accept the check now and is demanding money orders even though he admits he didn't look at the date of the check and is aware that the check isn't cashable for two days.

That's what he says. Sounds like he had a bill to pay & your the blame source. Stop at bank tomorrow, bank manager. Have ck #. Will tell you if it was presented for pymt. Will give you a statement as fact to present to your landlord. Banks don't like being accused.

You are paying your rent, there shouldn't be a problem with him using the check on the day that you wrote it for. He really doesn't have a leg to stand on here. He will have to accept the payment, and will have to write a notice to tenants to inform them of the payment change in the future. Hope this helps.
