What Is The Difference Between USB Cable Types?

I've been doing some looking into modding my cell phone, a Motorola W385, and the data cable for it is a Mini-USB to USB cable, however, the price for the cable that is advertised for this is much higher than say, a PS3's Mini-USB to USB data cable, is there a difference between the two? Or are all Mini-USB to USB data cables created equal?
