The ACT is a test that is designed for high school juniors who are planning to attend college. The test is specifically put together in order to test their knowledge base and application. The arrangements to take the test can be done through the high school guidance office for a small fee. The test is usually given several times a year, at different locations. The scores on the ACT test are in the range of 1-36 and can have a huge impact on whether or not the student gains admission to the college of his or her choice. In addition to an optional essay section, there are four other subject dedicated sections of the ACT exam. They include Maths, English, Reading and Science.

The timed test has 215 questions that usually get more difficult as the student progresses through each section. It is best to be mentally prepared not to spend too much time on the difficult questions and answer all the ones you are sure of first. The ACT test is very important and directly impacts the academic future. There are a number of dedicated online and offline resources that help students to avail of detailed guidelines, the topics and sub topics, the marking scheme and the past ACT papers. These resources help to study with more focus and refresh the completed syllabus in a methodical manner.
