The play "As You Like It" by William Shakespeare can be classified as a romantic comedy. The story revolves around the lives of the daughters of the two antagonists in the play. Duke Senior has been deposed from his lands by his brother Fredrick. Fredrick allows only one of the Duke's daughters to remain in court with him. This is because this daughter Rosalind is friends with his daughter Celia.

Orlando who is a gentleman from the kingdom falls in love with Rosalind but is driven out by his brother Oliver. When Rosalind is banished by Fredrick Celia agrees to flee with her. They disguise themselves as men and land up at the camp of the deposed Duke, where before them Orlando has already arrived. A lot of equations of love start to form including one in which a shepherdess falls in love with Rosalind taking her to be a man.
